The UPSSSC Lower PCS Vacancy 2026 selection process has three stages:

Stage 1:   PET-2025 Based Shortlisting Candidates will be shortlisted for the Main Examination based on their normalized PET-2025 score. The shortlisting ratio is 15 times the category-wise vacancies. This means if a post has 100 General category vacancies, up to 1500 General category candidates (based on PET merit) will be called for Mains. Candidates with zero or negative PET scores will not be considered.

Stage 2: Main Written Examination (Mains) This is the single and final written exam. It consists of 100 objective-type (MCQ) questions for 100 marks. The exam duration is 2 hours. The final merit will be prepared based on performance in this exam. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer.

Stage 3: Document Verification Candidates who qualify the Mains exam and fall within the final merit list will be called for document verification. Original documents including educational certificates, PET scorecard, age proof, caste certificate, and other relevant documents will be verified.

Very Important: There is NO interview in UPSSSC Lower PCS 2026. The entire selection is based on merit in the written examination. This makes the Mains exam score the most critical factor for final selection.

The competition for UPSSSC Lower PCS 2026 will be very high with lakhs of PET-2025 qualified candidates expected to apply. Here are some effective preparation strategies:

Focus on General Studies first because it carries the maximum weightage of 60 marks out of 100. Cover History, Polity, Geography, Economy, Science, and Current Affairs thoroughly.

For the Computer and IT section (20 marks), study MS Office operations practically, not just theory. Learn basic computer terminology, internet concepts, and cyber security. This is a scoring section if prepared well.

UP General Knowledge (20 marks) is where most candidates struggle. Study UP-specific history, geography, government schemes, and recent state current affairs. Read UP government’s official scheme announcements regularly.

Since there is a negative marking of 0.25 per wrong answer, do not guess randomly. Only attempt questions you are reasonably sure about. Leaving a question blank is better than losing 0.25 marks.

Practice with previous year papers and mock tests. Time management is critical because you only get 2 hours for 100 questions, which means about 1.2 minutes per question.

Stay updated with current affairs from the last 6 months, especially those related to Uttar Pradesh.
