Is it compulsory to stay in college hostel ?

I'm first year student, the condition of hostels in my college is not that good, so I'm thinking of staying in PGs rather than hostel provided by college.

It is not compulsory as such to stay in hostel, you can stay in PG outside and government will still provide you the maintenance allowances if you have got the college through pmsss scholarship.

There are some colleges who have a rule that hostel is compulsory for First year students. So firstly ensure whether there is any such rule in your college or not, If yes then try to manage first year and from second year you can start living outside college.
