Students from other states even don't know about PMSSS, they think that only JEE mains is the way to get admission in these high merit colleges.
I will give you an example of my friend who is studying in Army Institute of Technology, Pune under pmsss without even attempting JEE mains. If you will read about AIT you will see that jee mains is compulsory for admission in AIT, Pune.
May be the answer you read on the Website was given by some student who don't know about PMSSS.
