Britain's booster roll-out has hit a record high for the second day in a row as Britons celebrated finally being able to book vaccines online today.

A total of 745,183 third jabs were dished out in the UK yesterday, in what was the third full day of Boris Johnson's ramped up jabbing blitz.
This up 88,000 on the previous record set just a day earlier, Department of Health data showed.

The PM today heralded the 'huge national effort' behind the record and called on all eligible Brits to get their top-up dose. The drive is now open to over-18s, with No10 pledging to offer a jab to everyone by the end of December — the equivalent of a million shots a day when the pledge was made.

Health Secretary Sajid Javid today said the UK now has 'one of the fastest booster programmes in the world', with 25million people having already got their extra dose.

It came as the NHS website finally appeared to be able to cope for demand for boosters this morning, with Britons able to go straight through for booking without waiting in a queue. The system has creaked under huge demand from hundreds of thousands of people trying to book a third vaccine since Boris Johnson's TV appeal on Sunday night.

The trouble peaked on Monday when many Brits could not even get into the queueing system — and, when they did, they were kicked out halfway through.

Problems reduced on Tuesday and Wednesday when people found themselves waiting in a queue of around five minutes before being offered an appointment.

But this morning there was no line at all, one day after the system was opened up to all adults and three days after those aged 30 or over were permitted to book.
