AICTE pays an equal amount for Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme for any college depending on the stream i.e professional or general course, whether the student is getting a scholarship for IIT or any Engineering college allotted by AICTE.

Taking about Engineering colleges many private colleges may ask for you to pay early or more depending on their fee structure for example if a college's hostel fees are 1 lakh 40 thousand then you may have to pay 40,000 from your own as AICTE only gives 1 Lakh as a maintenance allowance under PMSSS.
